Baldwyn celebrates new Latimer Park sign with ribbon cutting
The Baldwyn Main Street Chamber and the city of Baldwyn hosted a ribbon-cutting ceremony Friday for a new sign at Latimer Park. The sign lists the facilities, fields, and courts available at the park, according to organizers.
Members of the community, including city officials and coaches, gathered for the event. The street department installed the sign in time for a busy night at the park, the chamber said.
Participants in the event included Chamber Director Teresa Green, Alderwoman Tonya Billips, Baldwyn School District Superintendent Raymond Craven, and Park Director Shane Raines, who cut the ribbon. Coaches Jacob Harper (tennis), Neal Allen (football), and Shannon Smith (baseball) also attended. Coach Dru Allen (softball) and Boys and Girls Club Director Nollen Elzie were not pictured.
The chamber expressed appreciation for coaches and directors who help maintain and utilize the park. More information about funding and future projects will be featured in the next edition of The Baldwyn News digital publication, organizers said.
