Baldwyn High School Bearcat Tennis Team Advances to Second Round of Playoffs
The Baldwyn High School Bearcat tennis team has advanced to the second round of the playoffs after defeating Walnut 6-1 in the first round.
The match took place this week at Latimer Park. The team will play Mississippi School for Math and Science (MSMS) on Tuesday, April 14, at 4 p.m. at the University of Mississippi.
In the first-round matchup, individual winners included Claire Kelly in girls singles, Wollen Weber in boys singles, and two doubles teams for both girls and boys. Kelly defeated her opponent 6-0, 6-1, while Weber won 6-0, 6-1.
Girls doubles team Maddie Ruth Moss and Eliza McCarley won 6-0, 6-1, and Avrie Armstrong with Micaela Jones won 6-0, 6-0. Boys doubles teams included DaShon Smith and Trayvion Upshaw, who won 8-6, 6-6, 6-3, and Emmett Williams with Karter Agnew, who won 4-6, 6-4, 10-3. In mixed doubles, Cali McCarver and Adrien Boisselier fell 3-6, 6-4, 5-10.
