Baldwyn School District to Resume Classes Monday with Delayed Start

Baldwyn School District will resume classes Monday, Feb. 2, after closures caused by winter weather. Schools report that campuses have power, heat, and water, but some students may still be without utilities because of ongoing recovery efforts and freezing temperatures.

Students without power or water will be excused from attending school, and parents are advised to contact teachers or school offices to communicate their situations, officials said. All staff members are expected to report at regular times.

Students will begin the day with a two-hour delayed start. Buses will run their routes two hours later than usual. The high school start time, normally 7:30 a.m., will be 9:30 a.m., while elementary students’ start time, usually 7:45 a.m., will be 9:45 a.m. Bus pickup times will also be adjusted accordingly.

For example, a bus that normally picks up students at 6:50 a.m. will now arrive at 8:50 a.m. Parents are encouraged to add two hours to their usual pickup times. Superintendent Raymond Craven expressed hopes that students are safe and warm and welcomed them back to school.
