Booneville Continues Recovery Efforts After Ice Storm

The city of Booneville is continuing its response and recovery efforts following the recent ice storm, according to a statement from Mayor Lori Tucker. Emergency coordination with Prentiss County EMA Director Bud Lindsey remains ongoing.

Utilities have been restored, with natural gas and water wells operational. City crews are working to address small leaks across all areas. Donations of bottled water, blankets, food, and hygiene products are being delivered, with distribution details to be announced.

The Street Department has been clearing storm debris and working to improve street access. Booneville received assistance from the city of Amory, which sent six crew members. The Mississippi National Guard is also helping with street clearance efforts.

Communication with the Booneville School District continues, and the warming station at Swift Park will remain open through the weekend. The city expressed gratitude to volunteers who prepared meals, donated supplies, and supported residents during the crisis.

The Booneville Police and Fire departments are providing ongoing support, and city officials are maintaining coordination with state legislators and aid agencies. City engineers are involved in recovery planning, and updates will be provided as conditions change.
