The Capitol Police announced that the 2026 Spring Citizens Academy is scheduled for April 20 to 28. The academy will meet from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Friday, with an additional session on Saturday from 9 a.m. to noon.
Residents of the Capitol Complex Improvement District can apply on the department’s website, dps.ms.gov. The deadline to submit applications is April 15, 2026.
The seven-day program offers participants an opportunity to engage directly with law enforcement officers and learn about their duties. Activities include driver education and simulation, a K-9 demonstration, forensic crime scene investigation, and ride-alongs with Capitol Police officers. Attendees will also receive an overview of Capitol Police operations, including the CCID court and its jurisdiction.
