FEMA approves federal aid for Mississippi winter storm victims

PEARL, Miss. — President Donald Trump has approved a request for federal assistance from Mississippi for residents impacted by winter storms that occurred Jan. 23-27, according to the Mississippi Emergency Management Agency.

Governor Tate Reeves requested aid for 36 counties and the Mississippi Band of Choctaw Indians. The Federal Emergency Management Agency approved the request, enabling eligible residents to access individual assistance programs, officials said.

Details about the scope of aid and application procedures are expected to be released in the coming days, the agency added.
