High school junior shadows electrical class at Northeast Mississippi Community College
Baldwyn High School junior Ja’Quon Barnett shadowed an electrical drawing and schematics class at Northeast Mississippi Community College on Wednesday. The class, led by instructor Mason Smith, covers fundamentals of electrical drawings, symbols and standards, circuit design, interpretation, and practical applications.
According to Barnett, he learned about different types of outlets used in homes and the importance of sketching and outlining electrical plans before construction. “I about the different kind of outlets that go into a house. Also, before you build a house, it is good to sketch and outline where everything is supposed to go,” he said.
During the session, Barnett collaborated with other students on blueprint designs and expressed gratitude to Smith for allowing his participation. The visit provided the student with a firsthand look at electrical design processes, officials said.
