Mississippi authorities seize $1 million in narcotics, arrest two in Jackson area
Mississippi law enforcement officials announced the arrest of two individuals and the seizure of significant quantities of illegal drugs following a coordinated operation on February 5, 2026.
The Mississippi Bureau of Narcotics, with assistance from the Capitol Police Department, Mississippi Highway Patrol, and Jackson Police Department, executed search warrants at two residences in Jackson and one in Brandon. During the operation, agents arrested 49-year-old Sean Antonio King and 50-year-old Latonya Hopson King.
Authorities identified Sean King as a multi-drug distributor operating in the region. Officers confiscated more than 146 pounds of methamphetamine, 7 pounds of fentanyl powder, 65,000 fentanyl pills, 2.2 ounces of crack cocaine, and 4.4 pounds of powder cocaine. They also seized six firearms, three vehicles, two Rolex watches valued at approximately $42,000, and more than $23,000 in cash.
Both suspects face multiple drug trafficking charges, including aggravated trafficking of methamphetamine, fentanyl, powder cocaine, and crack cocaine, with additional firearms-related charges. Latonya Hopson was charged with trafficking methamphetamine, fentanyl, and cocaine while in possession of a firearm and with trafficking near a school. Sean King faces similar charges, along with a charge of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
The investigation remains ongoing, and officials say they continue to pursue additional leads. Mississippi Department of Public Safety Commissioner Sean Tindell emphasized law enforcement’s commitment to community safety, stating, “Operations like this highlight the dedication and hard work of our law enforcement partners across the state.”
