Mississippi Department of Wildlife and Fisheries Announces Youth Fishing Rodeos in April

The Mississippi Department of Wildlife, Fisheries, and Parks is hosting a series of youth fishing rodeos across the state this April. The events are open to anglers aged 15 and younger and are free to attend, according to department officials.

Locations and dates include Tupelo’s Veterans Park on April 4 at 8 a.m., Vancleave’s Pascagoula River WMA (Land Between the Creeks Unit) on April 11 at 8 a.m., Columbus’s Lake Lowndes State Park at 8 a.m., and Leroy Percy State Park in Hollandale at 9 a.m. Other events are scheduled for Walnut Grove’s Willow Lake on April 18 at 8 a.m., Meadville’s Clear Springs Recreation Area at 7 a.m., and Sardis’s Cypress Point at 7:30 a.m.

Additional rodeos will be held on April 25 at Northside Park in Philadelphia at 8:30 a.m., Hansel King Sportsplex in Brookhaven at 8 a.m., and McAlpine Lake in Amory at 9 a.m., according to department officials. The events aim to give young anglers hands-on experience fishing with friends and family in Mississippi’s outdoors.
