Mississippi Highway Patrol marks 88 years of service
The Mississippi Department of Public Safety and the Mississippi Highway Patrol are celebrating their 88th anniversary. The agencies were established under Senate Bill 161 in 1938, according to officials.
Throughout nearly nine decades, the agencies have focused on serving and protecting residents of Mississippi. Their mission remains to keep roads safe and communities secure.
From the first patrol cars to today’s officers, the commitment to public safety continues. Officials expressed pride in the agencies’ long history of service and look forward to many more years of operation.
