Mississippi hosts live Q&A on turkey hunting regulations

Mississippi wildlife officials are inviting hunters to a live Facebook Q&A session scheduled for March 3 from 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. The event aims to answer questions about the 2026 turkey hunting season and licensing requirements.

Participants can submit questions in the comments during the session. The discussion will cover the Wild Turkey Stamp requirements, which are mandatory for all hunters 16 and older hunting wild turkeys on private or public land in Mississippi, according to the Mississippi Department of Wildlife, Fisheries and Parks.

Hunters exempt from purchasing the stamp still need to obtain a free Exempt Turkey Game Check privilege for harvest reporting. Exemptions include Mississippi lifetime license holders, youth under 16, residents age 65 and older, and residents with 100% disability from the Veteran’s Affairs, Railroad Retirement Board, or Social Security Administration.

The department also announced that Game Check is now directly linked to the Wild Turkey Stamp or Exempt Turkey Game Check privilege. For more details, hunters are encouraged to visit mdwfp.com/gamecheck.

The department urged hunters to join the Facebook session to get updates and ask questions about upcoming turkey season regulations.
