Mississippi hosts prescribed fire workshops for landowners

The Mississippi Department of Wildlife, Fisheries and Parks is offering a series of prescribed fire workshops aimed at private landowners and managers. The sessions will focus on using fire as a tool to enhance wildlife habitat and manage timber resources.

Experienced fire practitioners will be present at each event to answer questions and provide guidance. The department encourages interested individuals to register in advance.

The workshops are scheduled for Feb. 20, 2026, in Copiah County and March 6, 2026, in Tate County. Registration links and more information are available on the department’s website for each location.
