Mississippi National Guard deploys troops to support Operation Epic Fury

Airmen and soldiers from the 186th Air Refueling Wing, 172nd Airlift Wing, 2-20th Special Forces Battalion, and Special Operations Detachment of the Mississippi National Guard deployed in late February to the U.S. Central Command area of responsibility.

The deployment supports Operation Epic Fury, a military mission in the region, according to the Mississippi National Guard. Gov. Tate Reeves expressed his support, saying, “Mississippi is praying for the brave members of the Mississippi National Guard and all U.S. Service Members who have been deployed as part of Operation Epic Fury.”

Reeves added that the state’s guardsmen are “truly the best of the best,” and that Mississippi will always be grateful to them and their families for their service. Maj. Gen. Bobby M. Ginn Jr., the Adjutant General of Mississippi, emphasized the importance of the joint force effort, stating, “Mississippi’s Airmen and Soldiers stand ready to serve wherever they are needed.” Ginn highlighted that the deployment showcases the training, commitment, and capabilities of the Mississippi National Guard.
