Mississippi National Guard Opens Distribution Sites in Lafayette County

Distribution sites operated by the Mississippi National Guard opened in Lafayette County on Tuesday, providing MREs and bottled water to residents from noon to 4 p.m. Supplies are available while they last.

The sites are located at the Harmontown State Office Substation at 12 County Road 517, Lafayette High School at 160 Commodore Drive, Lafayette County Fire Station 3 at 22 County Road 369, Oasis Church at 861 Highway 6 West, and at City Hall in Oxford. Additional distribution points include CB Webb and Wayne Johnson Thacker at Garden Terrace.

Officials said each person could receive up to three days’ worth of supplies to ensure equitable distribution. The effort aims to serve as many residents as possible before supplies run out, and distribution will continue until inventory is depleted.

Community members are asked to be patient and courteous, as the sites are staffed by National Guard members working to support the community during this time.
