Mississippi responds to wildfire in Carroll County
The state of Mississippi is responding to a wildfire in Carroll County, according to officials. Aerial surveys indicate the fire has burned approximately 3,000 acres and is about 40% contained.
There have been no reports of injuries, and the cause of the fire remains under investigation, officials said. The Mississippi Forestry Commission, Carroll County Fire Services, and the Mississippi Emergency Management Agency are assisting in the response.
Roads in the area, including County Roads 218, 144, and 163, have been evacuated. Authorities may expand evacuations if necessary. Firefighters are working to contain the blaze using fire breaks around inhabited areas and deploying a helicopter from fire services.
The state plans to send additional resources as needed. Officials asked residents to stay alert and support the efforts of emergency responders.
