Mississippi seeks federal disaster aid after winter storm

Mississippi officials have submitted an official request for federal disaster assistance following the winter weather event that occurred from Jan. 23 to Jan. 27, according to state authorities.

The governor has sent the request to the Federal Emergency Management Agency and President Joe Biden. This move is a critical step in securing aid for affected residents and communities.

If approved, applications for assistance will open, allowing residents and businesses to seek federal support. State officials have pledged to keep the public informed throughout the process.
