Mississippi seeks public input on next Opportunity Zone nominations
The Mississippi Development Authority is preparing for the next round of Opportunity Zone nominations and is seeking public input. The agency plans to nominate up to 101 eligible census tracts for designation, which aims to encourage long-term private investment in underserved communities.
The new Opportunity Zones are scheduled to take effect Jan. 1, 2027, and will remain active for 10 years. Community leaders, local governments, economic development organizations, and stakeholders are encouraged to share feedback to help guide the selection process.
Public input sessions are scheduled to begin in April. Additional information and a comment form are available on the Mississippi Development Authority’s website at Mississippi.org/community-resources/opportunity-zones/, according to the agency.
