Mississippi State Lakes set new record with crappie catch
The Mississippi Department of Wildlife, Fisheries and Parks announced a new record at one of the state’s lakes. Don Barnes caught a 2.25-pound crappie at Simpson County Lake, setting a new lake record, the department said.
The department encouraged anglers to visit one of Mississippi’s state lakes, which are available for fishing and recreation. A list of lakes can be found on the department’s website.
Officials did not specify if the record was officially certified, but the department shared the achievement on social media, congratulating Barnes on his catch.
