Mississippi storm leaves one dead, three injured, thousands without power
A severe storm swept through parts of Mississippi last night, causing one death and three injuries, according to local authorities.
In Lawrence County, one person died, and three others were injured during the storm. The Mississippi Emergency Management Agency said damage assessments are ongoing across several counties.
Tornadoes are suspected to have touched down in Pike, Lincoln, and Walthall counties. Damage has been reported in Amite, Lawrence, Lincoln, Pike, Smith, and Walthall counties, including to homes, trees, and power lines.
Approximately 40,300 customers remain without power statewide, officials said. The state is working closely with local emergency managers to coordinate response efforts.
Mississippi authorities urged residents to remain cautious and pray for those impacted by the storm. Damage assessments are ongoing, and officials pledged to respond as needed.
