Mississippi Trooper Hit in Construction Zone Rear-End Collision
A Mississippi State Trooper was hit by a vehicle in a construction zone in Jones County, according to the Mississippi Department of Public Safety.
The trooper’s vehicle was stationary with blue lights activated to warn drivers to slow down and proceed with caution. Despite these warnings, an inattentive driver failed to slow and move over, striking the patrol vehicle, officials said.
This is the second rear-end collision involving a trooper in recent weeks, the department added. The trooper sustained only minor injuries, but authorities emphasized the seriousness of distracted driving and failure to move over for first responders.
Officials urge drivers to reduce speed, stay alert, and move over when approaching emergency vehicles or roadside workers to prevent such incidents.
