Mississippi wildlife agency honors staff for conservation efforts

During its February meeting, the Mississippi Department of Wildlife, Fisheries, and Parks honored three staff members for their contributions to wildlife conservation and support of agency initiatives.

Nathan Blount received the 2025 Director’s Award. He is the Federal Aid and Special Projects Coordinator and was recognized for his work on transitioning Wildlife Bureau applications to a new licensing system, according to MDWFP.

William Thomason was named the 2025 WMA Conservationist of the Year. He manages Canemount Wildlife Management Area and was acknowledged for his outstanding efforts in managing the area, the agency said.

William McKinley was awarded the 2025 Wildlife Conservationist of the Year. He serves as the White-tailed Deer Program Coordinator and was recognized for his technical expertise and his ability to communicate and collaborate effectively with diverse groups.
