Mississippi wildlife officers assist communities amid ice storm

Mississippi Department of Wildlife, Fisheries, and Parks officers are actively supporting communities in North Mississippi during the ongoing ice storm, according to a department post.

About 40 officers are working 12-hour shifts to ensure 24-hour coverage. They are assisting local authorities with patrols, welfare checks, and security at warming and supply shelters.

Officers are also supporting other critical response efforts as weather conditions evolve. The department emphasized its commitment to public safety and helping communities navigate the severe weather event.
