Mississippi Youth Waterfowl Camp Teaches Hunting Skills and Conservation

Ten young hunters attended the 2026 Youth Waterfowl Camp organized by the Mississippi Department of Wildlife, Fisheries, and Parks. The camp focused on hunter safety, conservation, habitat management, marksmanship, waterfowl identification, retriever training, and wild game processing, according to MDWFP.

Throughout the weekend, participants achieved a total of 55 harvests. Some campers hunted ducks for the first time, while a few harvested their first wild game of any kind, officials said.

MDWFP partnered with Ducks Unlimited to promote hunting heritage among youth. The organization aims to pass down hunting traditions and conservation values through such programs, officials added.
