Northeast Mississippi Community College Highlights Fine Arts Program Through Student Experience
Jamyla Elliott of Forest, Mississippi, described her experience as a Fine Arts major at Northeast Mississippi Community College. She said the program emphasizes hands-on, creative projects that bring art to life.
In her classes, Elliott has taken and developed her own photographs, created original paintings, and built her own sketchbook in drawing courses. She noted that each project allows her to explore new ideas and develop her personal style.
Elliott explained that at Northeast, Fine Arts students don’t just learn about art—they actively create it. The program encourages students to experiment from start to finish, fostering a comprehensive artistic experience.
The college’s approach aims to inspire students and help them bring their artistic visions to fruition, according to Elliott. She added that the program’s hands-on nature helps students grow and prepare for future opportunities in the arts.
