Northeast Mississippi Community College honors Britney Whitley with Northeast Way Award

Britney Whitley, assistant vice president of the Student Success Center at Northeast Mississippi Community College, has received the Northeast Way Award. The honor recognizes individuals who foster a positive and welcoming atmosphere within the college community, according to NEMCC.

In her nomination, colleagues highlighted Whitley’s patience and encouragement during a challenging period of adapting to new digital platforms, pathway requirements, financial aid protocols, and other responsibilities. Her supportive approach helped colleagues navigate the learning curve, the nomination said.

One colleague shared that Whitley’s kindness extended beyond her team. “Any time I see a student walk out of our Success Center, you more often than not can audibly hear their gratitude while also seemingly visibly seeing weights lifted off of their shoulders,” the nomination read.

Her leadership has left a lasting impression, with colleagues describing her as a good leader, a positive influence, and someone who inspires confidence. “I can genuinely say I feel more prepared to do this job knowing Britney has all of our backs,” the nomination concluded.

NEMCC encourages others to recognize deserving employees by nominating them for the Northeast Way Award through an online form.
