Northwest Mississippi Community College’s softball team defeated Northeast Mississippi, 7-5, in a game that saw the Tigers score four runs in the seventh inning and leave the tying run on base.
The Tigers, ranked No. 17, improved their record with the victory. Northeast, ranked No. 20, fought hard but fell short in the final inning.
Northeast returns to action Saturday at Gulf Coast, with first pitch scheduled for 2 p.m., according to team officials. The game took place amid a competitive matchup between the two teams.
