Power Restorations Continue as Ice Storm Outages Persist

Power outages caused by an ice storm continue to affect residents, with 809 meters reported offline as of 10 p.m., according to PCEPA. The utility company has deployed additional crews to expedite repairs and restore power.

Six crews from First Electric Cooperative in Arkansas arrived Wednesday to assist existing crews. They will focus on connecting individual service drops, a process described as the most tedious and dangerous phase of restoration due to energized lines and increased safety risks. PCEPA emphasized that the safety of workers remains its top priority, noting no injuries have been reported so far.

The company provided an outage management map showing current work areas, encouraging customers to view the map for updates and planned repairs. PCEPA also reminded residents to stay away from downed power lines and to assume lines are energized at all times.

Effective immediately, the utility’s lobby will be closed, but the drive-thru window remains open. PCEPA general manager Robert Dodson thanked customers for their patience and understanding during the ongoing outages.
