Prentiss County deputies arrest man with crack cocaine at checkpoint
Prentiss County deputies, along with officers from the Mississippi Highway Patrol and the Mississippi Department of Wildlife, Fisheries and Parks, set up a checkpoint on February 24, 2026, according to sheriff’s officials.
During the operation, Prentiss County Deputy Ethan Hester arrested Ricky Borden, 62, of Booneville, on charges of driving without a license and multiple Justice Court warrants, authorities said.
It was also reported that Borden dropped a cigarette pack at the scene, which allegedly contained crack cocaine, according to officials. Borden’s bond was set at $5,000 by Justice Court Judge Ray Hall.
North Mississippi Narcotics Agent Grady Smith is expected to present the case to the next grand jury, officials added.
