Prentiss County deputies arrest two on drug charges after suspicious vehicle call
Prentiss County deputies responded to a report of a suspicious vehicle on County Road 7301 on February 23, 2026, the sheriff’s office said.
After an investigation, Heather McVey, 41, of Booneville, was arrested and charged with possession of methamphetamine. James Davis Jr., 62, of Blackland, was also taken into custody and faces charges of possession of methamphetamine and tampering with physical evidence, authorities said.
North Mississippi Narcotics Agent Grady Smith will present the cases to the next grand jury, according to the sheriff’s office. Bond for McVey was set at $5,000, and Davis’s bond was set at $15,000 by Prentiss County Justice Court Judge Craig Bishop.
Deputies Ridge Lawson and Jordan Bell assisted with the arrests, the sheriff’s office added.
