Prentiss County sets April 22 deadline for storm debris pickup

Prentiss County officials announced that April 22, 2026, is the final day for residents to place storm debris at the roadside for pickup. The collection focuses solely on vegetative debris, including limbs, branches, and other natural materials caused by recent storms.

According to county officials, debris not related to storm damage, such as construction materials or household garbage, will not be collected. Any ineligible debris left at the roadside after the deadline will be the responsibility of the resident to remove and dispose of.

Residents are advised to place debris on the public right-of-way by the end of April 22. Officials emphasize keeping debris close to the road without blocking traffic or drainage, and ensuring it is kept away from mailboxes, utility poles, and fire hydrants. All debris must be strictly vegetative and storm-related.

As of now, approximately 304,000 cubic yards of debris have been collected, with cleanup ongoing. County officials ask residents to be mindful of debris contractors working along roads and highways as the effort continues.

David “Bubba” Pounds, Prentiss County Chancery Clerk, expressed appreciation for public cooperation as the county works to complete the storm cleanup effort.
