Booneville Holds First Buddy Poppy Day to Honor Veterans

Booneville hosted its first Buddy Poppy Day on Friday in the downtown Hardware Building, aiming to honor military veterans. Mayor Lori Tucker attended the event and read a proclamation declaring the day the Friday before Memorial Day, according to city officials.

The event was part of a series of observances leading up to Memorial Day. A memorial ceremony is scheduled for Monday at 10 a.m. at the Prentiss County Courthouse, the city announced.

Officials said the Buddy Poppy Day recognizes the sacrifices of veterans and serves as a reminder of their service. The event drew local residents and veterans to the downtown Booneville area for the occasion.
