Mississippi’s community colleges are advancing a new program aimed at strengthening the state’s workforce. The proposed Jobs Promise Performance Program seeks to prepare an estimated 5,500 workers each year for high-demand careers, according to officials.
The program ties state investment directly to workforce results, emphasizing performance-based funding. Mississippi Community College System Chair and Northeast President Dr. Ricky G. Ford highlighted the initiative’s goals. “Mississippi’s Jobs Promise Performance Program shows our commitment to give our students the tools they need for the current workforce,” Ford said. “By aligning education with workforce demands, we are helping improve job prospects for our graduates and facilitate economic development in our communities.”
