Mississippi DPS honors 9/11 victims and first responders at memorial luncheon

Members of the Mississippi Department of Public Safety gathered Wednesday for a 9/11 Memorial Luncheon to honor the lives lost during the September 11, 2001, terrorist attacks and recognize the bravery of first responders.

Twenty-five years after the attacks, the department reaffirmed its commitment to remembering those who perished and supporting the families impacted by the tragedy, according to a department news release.

Officials emphasized the importance of never forgetting the events of 9/11 and the sacrifices made by first responders who answered the call that day. The event included remarks honoring the courage and sacrifice of those who served, officials said.

The department encouraged community members to continue honoring the memory of 9/11 and to stand with the families affected. The observance was part of ongoing efforts to preserve the history and significance of September 11.
