Mississippi to Require Driver’s Education for All New Drivers Starting in 2027

Mississippi will require all new drivers to complete a driver’s education course starting July 1, 2027, according to state officials.

The Mississippi Department of Public Safety announced that the new requirement aims to improve road safety and driver preparedness.

Officials also provided a list of approved driver’s education providers on their website, dps.ms.gov, to help prospective drivers find nearby programs. Motorists are encouraged to plan ahead to meet the upcoming mandate.

The new rule applies to all individuals applying for a driver’s license in the state. Authorities did not specify whether there will be exemptions or alternative options for certain applicants.
