Mississippi Wildlife Department Encourages Shooting Sports Participation During August

The Mississippi Department of Wildlife, Fisheries and Parks is encouraging residents to participate in shooting sports as August marks National Shooting Sports Month. The agency highlights the importance of firearms safety and invites the public to visit its shooting facilities across the state.

Three MDWFP shooting facilities are available for public use. The McIvor Shooting Facility in northern Mississippi offers shotgun, pistol ranges, and 3D archery. The Turcotte Shooting Facility in central Mississippi provides options for rifle, pistol, and skeet shooting. In south Mississippi, the McHenry Shooting Facility features various ranges, fields, and archery targets.

MDWFP’s facilities also offer handgun classes and shotgun rentals. More information is available on the agency’s website.
