Northeast Mississippi Community College is mourning the loss of Adrian “Odie” Smith, its most decorated student-athlete across all sports, according to school officials.
Smith was inducted into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame after winning a gold medal with Team USA in 1960, the school said. He also earned All-American honors at Northeast Mississippi Community College and was a national champion at the University of Kentucky.
Details about his death were not provided. The college community remembers Smith as a legendary figure in athletics and a source of pride for Tiger Town.
