Northrop Grumman Corporation, Accelerate Mississippi, and Northeast Mississippi Community College are teaming up to expand workforce training opportunities in the region. More than 220 people have enrolled in programs aimed at building skills for high-demand careers, including roles with Northrop Grumman that pay between $21 and $25 an hour, officials said.
Northrop Grumman has invested over $60,000 and provided more than $375,000 worth of tools and equipment to develop a state-of-the-art training environment at Northeast Mississippi Community College. Additionally, a $2.09 million grant from Accelerate Mississippi is funding the creation of a new Advanced Composites Laboratory to further enhance training capabilities.
Officials emphasized that the most significant investment is in people. The program aims to help a diverse group of individuals, including recent graduates, parents seeking better careers, and workers looking for a second chance. They said the efforts are transforming lives and boosting economic stability across the region.
Partnerships like these demonstrate how collaboration between industry and education can produce meaningful change, officials added. The initiative is helping residents build careers and secure financial futures in Northeast Mississippi.
