Mississippi Records First Child COVID-19 Death
In a press conference that took place on Tuesday regarding the state of COVID-19 in Mississippi, Governor Tate Reeves and State Health Official Dr. Thomas Dobbs announced the first confirmed child death from the novel coronavirus in the state.
The child, aged from one to five, passed away after acquiring Multisystem Inflammatory Syndrome. This has been linked to a select few cases of COVID-19 in young children.
Although this is the first death to result, children can develop serious complications from the coronavirus in rare cases.
However, in most cases, children and young adults are expected to recover from COVID-19 within two weeks.
