Prentiss County reporting 4 cases and active nursing home outbreak of COVID19

In the newest numbers from the Mississippi Department of Health, Prentiss county is reporting 4 cases and an outbreak at a long term care facility.

This comes as there are over 20 outbreaks in LTC facilities in the state.

Tippah County has enacted a local curfew to go along with the statewide shelter in place order from Governor Reeves.

The LTC facility in the county has not been publicly identified as of yet.

From the MSDH:

The MSDH Public Health Laboratory is testing samples submitted by Mississippi physicians and healthcare providers around the state in cases where COVID-19 is determined to be a risk. Anyone with symptoms of fever, severe cough or severe chest pains – especia

lly those who are older or in poor health – should call their doctor or healthcare provider for instructions on safely being examined. Healthcare providers can assess your health history and symptoms, and perform testing for COVID-19 as needed.
