Former NEMCC basketball coach Harvey Childers passes away

Northeast Mississippi Community College is mourning the loss of Harvey Childers, a former head coach of the NEMCC basketball team. Childers guided the Tigers from 1985 to 1992, winning 192 games during his tenure, according to school officials.

He led the team to three trips to the NJCAA tournament and finished as national runner-up in 1989. Childers remains the fourth-winningest coach in the program’s history, the college said.

The college expressed condolences to his family. No further details about his death were provided.
