High school student finds career path through NEMCC logistics program and apprenticeship

Jaxson Laster was unsure of his future when he finished high school. Like many seniors, he struggled to find his path, he said.

His outlook began to change after touring Hago Automotive during a visit to Northeast Community College. Through the college’s Logistics Management Technology program and the Tiger Apprenticeship, Laster gained hands-on experience while earning his degree.

While working at Hago, Laster earned 17 certifications and traveled to Germany for an international apprenticeship. He is now the first Logistics Apprentice at Hago Automotive and the first graduate of NEMCC’s logistics program.

He is also working toward his Journeyman credential as a Logistics Engineer. Laster said the program gave him direction, confidence, and a head start in life.

“This program showed me that when you take a chance and work hard, so much can come from it,” he said. The college encourages others uncertain about their futures to consider similar programs, suggesting their paths might be waiting at NEMCC.
