The 2026 alligator hunting season in Mississippi begins at noon today for both public waters and private lands, according to state wildlife officials.
The public waters season will close at noon on September 7, while the private lands season will end at 6 a.m. on September 21.
Hunters are reminded to prioritize safety during their pursuit. The Mississippi Department of Wildlife, Fisheries and Parks recommends consulting the 2026 Alligator Hunting Guide, which includes capture and dispatching techniques, maps of public waterways, and records to beat.
