The Mississippi Department of Wildlife, Fisheries, and Parks announced the opening of Alligator Wildlife Management Area, a new public hunting area in the Mississippi Delta.
The 2,882-acre site, located in Bolivar and Coahoma counties, offers habitat for deer, wild turkey, small game, songbirds, and other wildlife. The area expands outdoor recreation opportunities while maintaining a partnership with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers.
Hunters can access various opportunities, with deer hunting limited to archery and permit-only primitive weapons during specific seasons. Visitors are advised to review current WMA regulations for season dates, permit requirements, and rules before hunting.
