Mississippi biologists conduct alligator surveys along public waters
Mississippi Department of Wildlife, Fisheries and Parks biologists are busy conducting alligator surveys along public waters. The surveys take place at night using spotlights on predefined routes that are run each year.
During each survey, alligators are counted and their lengths are estimated. Researchers also record the locations where alligators are spotted. The data collected helps track population trends in different areas.
