The Mississippi Department of Wildlife, Fisheries, and Parks has announced that its new cadet class has begun training at the Mississippi Conservation Officer Academy (MCOTA). The cadets are spending the summer learning topics such as wildlife management, regulations, boating safety, and defensive tactics, according to department officials.
Cadets also focused on firearm proficiency and water survival skills during their training sessions. Earlier this month, they joined other law enforcement cadets from across the state at the Mississippi Law Enforcement Officer Training Academy (MLEOTA), where they will continue their training for several more weeks.
The department has emphasized that the program aims to prepare cadets for future roles in wildlife conservation and law enforcement throughout Mississippi.
