Mississippi extends 2025-2026 wild turkey season through May 5
The Mississippi Department of Wildlife, Fisheries, and Parks announced that the 2025-2026 wild turkey hunting season has been extended through 30 minutes after sunset on Sunday, May 5, 2026.
The extension is in accordance with Mississippi law, specifically MISS. CODE ANN. §49-7-31.2(c). The law states that when the regular season ends on a Friday, the season extends until 30 minutes after sunset on the following Sunday.
The season extension applies only to season dates and does not alter the annual bag limit, authorities said. Hunters are encouraged to plan their trips accordingly. The extension does not affect any other hunting regulations.
Photographer Joe Mac Hudspeth Jr. captured images related to the season extension, the department noted.
