The Mississippi Department of Wildlife, Fisheries and Parks announced that applications for the 2026 Fire on the Forty program will open May 1 and close June 19.
The program provides cost-sharing assistance to landowners who want to use prescribed fire to enhance wildlife habitats and manage their properties more effectively, according to department officials.
