Mississippi Flooding Remains a Concern as Several Rivers Stay in Flood Stages
Thirteen rivers and creeks across Mississippi remain in major to minor flood stages, according to local authorities. All are forecasted to decrease significantly over the next 12 to 24 hours.
Six waterways are in major flood stage, including West Hobolochitto Creek near McNeill, Biloxi River near Wortham, Jourdan River at Kiln, Wolf River near Landon, Wolf River near Gulfport, and Biloxi River near Lyman.
Two rivers are in moderate flood stage: East Hobolochitto Creek near Caesar and Leaf River near McLain. Five waterways are in minor flood stage, including Black Creek near Brooklyn, Chickasawhay River at Leakesville, Pascagoula River at Merrill, Tchoutacabouffa River near D’Iberville, and Pearl River near Bogalusa, according to the National Weather Service.
Officials advise residents to stay weather-aware as the situation develops. No further flooding updates were provided at this time.
