Mississippi Highway Patrol welcomes 54 new troopers after training

Fifty-four recruits graduated from Mississippi Department of Public Safety training after 16 weeks of rigorous preparation, the department announced.

During a ceremony today, the graduates took the oath to serve and protect communities across the state. Of those, 42 were sworn in as Mississippi Highway Patrol troopers.

Six graduates have been assigned to the Capitol Police, two to the Commercial Transportation Enforcement Division, and four to the Mississippi Bureau of Narcotics, according to the department.

The department expressed gratitude for the recruits’ commitment, sacrifice, and dedication. Mississippi officials said they look forward to the positive impact the new officers will have statewide.

Congratulations were extended to Class 70, with officials noting that their time to serve has now begun.
