Mississippi Honor Guard Attends National Police Memorial in Washington, D.C.

WASHINGTON — The Mississippi Highway Patrol Honor Guard participated in the 45th Annual National Police Officers’ Memorial Service at the U.S. Capitol, marking the end of National Police Week. The event brought together law enforcement agencies from across the country to honor fallen officers.

Representatives from Mississippi stood alongside other national agencies to pay tribute to officers who lost their lives in service. The honor guard assisted and supported families of three fallen Mississippi officers during the ceremony: Officer Bryan Pippin of the Jackson Police Department, Deputy Joshua Brashears of the Jackson County Sheriff’s Department, and Deputy Martin Shields Jr. of the Hinds County Sheriff’s Department, according to a statement from the Mississippi Department of Public Safety.

The department emphasized that the sacrifices of these officers will never be forgotten. “We will continue to honor their memory and stand beside the loved ones they left behind,” the department said. The ceremony is part of an ongoing effort to recognize law enforcement officers who have died in the line of duty and to support their families.
